his  document announces the release of a new oversize cylinder liner for use on  the QSK78 diesel engines.
The new  oversize cylinder liner was released to improve cylinder block  serviceability.
The  oversize dimensional feature of the liner applies to the lower press fit  diameter only.
The 0.25  mm [0.098 in] oversize liner has the lower press fit dimension increased by  0.25 mm [0.098 in] from its nominal dimensional value. The new oversize  cylinder liner can be identified by a single groove located down at the  cylinder liner bottom edge, reference Figure 1.
The 0.50  mm [0.197 in] oversize liner has the lower press fit dimension increased by  0.50 mm [0.197 in] from its nominal dimensional value. The new oversize  cylinder liner can be identified by a double groove located down at the  cylinder liner bottom edge, reference Figure 1.
Use the  following procedure for oversize cylinder liner specifications and removal  and installation instructions. Refer to Procedure  001-027, Refer to  Procedure 001-028, and Refer to Procedure 001-064 in Section 1 of the QSK78 Series Engines Troubleshooting and Repair  Manual, Bulletin 3666727.

Two new  oversize cylinder liner overhaul kits are available. These kits contain the  cylinder liner, liner seal ring and two oil seal rings. Reference Tables 2  and 3.
